Investment and upgrade at Exeter City’s training facilities

Exeter City Football Club continues to invest in its facilities, improving and upgrading areas of its training ground.

Thanks to investment from the Supporters’ Trust, in terms of a £4,500 donation and the equivalent sum as a loan, the club has created a new £9,000 storage facility at the Cliff Hill Training Ground.

The investment is part of a process to rationalise storage facilities and replace out of date sheds at the site which were no longer fit for purpose.

And a donation of £400 from the club’s Grecian Goal group has ensured an essential footpath has been completed.

The club paused expenditure when the season was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic in March.

Elaine Davis, Exeter City FC director, who also runs Grecian Goal, said that it had been anticipated that the path, which runs from the car park down the length of the training ground alongside the pitches, would have cost £5,400.

She added: ‘The preliminary work had been done on the path, so we were pleased to find a cheaper alternative finish to complete the project and ensure we created a safe route to the pitches for all of those using them. This is a temporary measure and we envisage it will be completed to the original spec once finances allow.’

The Cliff Hill Training Ground is used by the Exeter City players, the Academy and the Girls’ Development Centre. The facilities are also used by participants on CITY Community Trust programmes and are available for hire by community groups.
