New Virtual Book Club Helps People Stay Connected

Exeter City Community Trust are continuing to offer an exciting range of virtual events as part of the creating connections project.

The project, which is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and Devon Community Foundation, has seen the delivery of a number of online sessions over the last four months.

Creating Connections has been designed to connect people and reduce the loneliness and isolation which has been caused by the pandemic. In May we are due to launch a new virtual book club, ‘Read and Natter’, which is being delivered in partnership with Exeter Library. The club is free to join and will take place fortnightly, with the first session taking place from 10am-11am on 4 May.

Jack Watts, operations manager at Exeter CITY Community Trust, said the charity has been looking at a variety of ways to connect with local people and there had already been lots of interest in a book club.

He said: “The first session will include an introduction to the group and a discussion of different genres and the books that people are currently reading or have previously enjoyed. Future sessions will offer participants the opportunity to talk about different book choices. There will also be some recommendations from Karen from Exeter Library, as well as a chance to chat in a friendly and welcoming group. The sessions will be very relaxed and informal.”
